It was graduation day in Seireitei. This year, many fine students would be inserted in the 13 squads of Shinigami that would protect this world and the world of the living. Every captain was there to pick their favourites, for they would be their new masters. Names were called out, food was eaten, there was music, laughter and Captain Kyouraku Shunsui had brought a lot of Saké. But in the midst of all this happiness, a small group stood in a corner, separated from the main party. In this group, little Miu Atsuko pulled Sakazaki Akumas leg. “Hey, did you get assigned to a squad yet?” She asked, looking up to her friend from his waistline. “No…” The older-looking Shinigami answered “And I don’t like it, I’m stronger than most of the butt-lickers here, and they’re the ones going into squads.” Atsuko noticed some irritation in Akumas voice, and turned away, to leave him alone for a while. As she did, she saw two other faces she remembered from the academy. Genma Shiru and Amon "Zink" Shairo sat just a few metres away, apparently in the middle of a drink-off. “Hey!” She shouted “Have you been assigned to any squads yet you drunkards?” “Not yet!” Shiru shouted back “But the night is still young, little one!” He then turned back to his adversary, and emptied his sakazuki, feeling a warm sensation go down his throat. “Have you been assigned, Zink?” He asked after a second, and placed his cup back on the little table. “I have no idea” The dark one answered laughing before falling over from his sitting position, somehow managing not to lose his drink. This went on for some time, not surprisingly, Zink won the drinking contest. But not one of the four friends got in to one of the 13. “Aah, here you are, all gathered up, excellent.” Among the four, First Captain Yamamoto Genryuusai Shigekuni stood. “I need you to come with me… It is quite urgent” And he walked away, as he went away from the festivities, the Captains Kurotsuchi Mayuri and Kuchiki Byakuya joined him. |

Confusion played on Miu Atsuko face as she followed the three Captains, Where are they taking us and why haven’t picked me to a squad. She made disgruntled noise to voice her disapproval about the situation. “Where are you taking us?” She asked the Captains. |

"Next time, don't forget to tell me about the sake contest, or I won't get the chance to beat the crap out of the two of you at drinkin'." Akuma says to Shiru and Zink in a jokingly manner, before trodding after the captains. |

Zink stubbles up on his feet and fills his drink before he notice that everyone already was leaving. He grabbed the flask on the table before following after the others. Tripping on everything but somehow managing to roll back to walking possition in one motion still drinking from the bottle. "Hey? where are we going?" He asks when he finaly catched up with them. Laying one hand on Shirus shoulder as to help Zink walk alittle more stable. |

"Shh, shh, I'm concentrating." Shiru mumbles for an answer to Zinks question and at the same time he stumbles a few steps to the side when Zinks hand lands on his shoulder. "Akuma, depending on the hangover I'll have tomorrow I'm guessing it'll be a while until I have a drinking contest with him again." he continues and gives Akuma a hearty grin when he regains his balance. |

"You know. I have the cure for your hangover" Zink says and smiles. Then he hands over the bottle with alkohol. "As long as you are drunk the hangover will never come" Zink says and gives out an heartly laughter almost tipping himself over, then suddenly he turns to Akuma and looks very seriously at him. "Hey you!" He says then his face turns into a huge smile. "We can have that contest right now" Zink says and pokes Akuma in the side with his staff. |

"No time for that, We're here" The First Captain said and opened a door. Inside was a large empty room, except for a small table with some papers on it. The Three captains went in, and sat down by the table, motioning or the others to take a seat. |

Zink looks around surprised as if he didnt realize that he had been walking. Then he nods and walks up to one of the seats hitting it hard when he falls into it. He puts the bottle aways and waits for someone to start talking. |

Shiru sits down on a chair on the opposite side of the table from the captains and quickly tries to get a glimpse of what the papers on the table are about but without luck. "Sooo.... Why are we here?" he then asks. |

Miu Atsuko wrinkles her nose at Zink as she walks by and takes the seat furthest from Zink and his sake odor. “Yes why haven’t we been assigned to a squad yet?” |

"I'll be right with you on that, after we find out what's happenin' that is." Akuma answers Zink with a whisper and a small grin on his face. "Don't mind if I do..." he then answers the old captain and walks in. He sits down as instructed and gives the captains each a respectful nod. |

Zink fingers at the bottle opening as he waits for when Miu Atsuko asks her question Zink gets his finger stuck in the bottle and quickly hides his hand while trying to get his finger out of the bottle. |

"So you noticed?" The First Captain said with a smile. "Well, we have monitored your progress in the academy since you started, and we are pleased to see that your skill matches our expectations almost perfectly." "You will not join a squad this year, nor any other year" Captain Kuchiki continued. "You will form a group that answer's only to us captains, not the court, not the lieutenants, but only captains. There are only four of you now, with some luck, others may join you. Now, Captain Kurotsuchi will give you your first mission." Everyones eyes turned towards the bacl and white captain. And he picked up a paper from the table. "You will go into the real world, and once there find a place far from civilization." The captain turned the paper over and it turned out to be a photograph of a hollow. Body similar to a human, but much larger, and all blue, the mask was shaped like a perfect cube. "I want you to find this specimen for me." The captain said. |

"Now that's a hollow you probably don't see every day." Shiru says and leans towards the picture to get a better look on it. "So, when and if we find it... then what, Mayuri-san? Do we capture it or just observe it?" he asks. |

"Whoa! I think somethings is wrong with the drink. Its a blue human with a cube as a head" Zink says surprised and try to focus on the photo. Then he suddenly says "nope. The picture is still the same. Then there is nothing wrong with the drink" He gives out a laugh and finaly pulls his finger out of thr bottle and in one smooth motion he takes a mouthfull and swallows it before he remebers where he is. "Ah... im with.. uum.. Shiru! What will we do with it when we find it?" He says as he hides the bottle again |

"I was just getting to that" Mayuri said, and picked two cyliners out from under his clothing. He then place them on the table where everyone can see before pointing on the slightly larger one, the one with a string attached so that it can be worn around ones neck. "I trust you all know how to use a hollow-bait?" |

“Sorry but I don’t know how to use hollow-bait. I was in the infirmary when they covered that in the academy” Miu Atsuko looked a little puzzled, “Why do you want us to catch this hollow? Is it powerful?” She asked the captains. |

"And it has lessened pre-graduational death by almost 30 percent" Byakuya said, before turning his gaze towards Mayuri once more. "Yes, indeed, about this hollow.. Lets just say that it is for an experiment of mine..." Mayrui answered "This bait works a bit different than the ones you are educated in, as it can not be switched off..." Mayuri picked up the cylinder and placed it in the palm of his left hand. "You hold it like this, and smacks it on the top..." Mayuri gives the cylinder a light slap for demonstrative purpose. "It will be active for the following 24 hours, emitting a weak signal that should only attract the smaller hollows. You will have to be on your toes for this duration as hundreds of hollows can appear simultaneously." Mayuri puts the cylinder down, and picks up the other one, opening it like a zippo-lighter. "This is a pretty standard targeting device, just press the button, and I´ll be able to pinpoint your position, and can collect the specimen. Its vital that you harm the creature as little as possible. If it dies, this operation will be in vain..." Mayuri closes the cylinder and puts it back on the table. "I would say that probably me or Akuma would be most suited to be Squad leader." Shiru says while reaching for the cylinders. He grabs hold of the cylinder that Mayuri said was the targeting device. "Akuma for his strength and me because of my speed..." he adds. |

Miu looked at Akuma and Shiru and thoughtfully pouted with her lips,”Akuma looks like half shaved badger but I think badgers look cute! So I don’t mind if he becomes the squad leader” She said it with a smile and she blushed. |

"Also by being a bit more sober than me..." Shiru adds with a grin. He grabs hold of the second cylinder and gives it to Akuma. "My suggestion however is that I keep the targeting device and that you three fight off the invading hollows long enough for me to target the specimen for Mayuri-sama." |

Zink nods in agree but then asks "Soo we all have to fight then? Well as long as there will be drinking after.." Then he laughs and seems to make himselfready to leave but realizes that he do not know where they are going |

"Sakazaki Akuma it is then" Mayuri sais and opens his notebook, quickly writing down the name. "Mind if I join yah, Yama-jii?" While the group had been talking, the door had opened, and eight Captain Kyouraku Shunsui had stepped in. He was clearly drunk from the party, eyes unfocused and he seemed to be out of balance from time to time. He was still wearing his straw hat and the pink coat that made him so different from all other captains. "I found the one you were looking for, Yama-jii. Right under my nose, he sat just a few places to my left, never noticed him before those between us collapsed or went to mingle." Kyouraku, still technically uninvited had made it to the table, and as he sat down, everyone could see a second guest that had been walking behind the captain. "Katsuo Michio" The First Captain said when he saw the young student. "This year's ace in kidou, he will be of great help to you, an will join this squad as of now." This he said to the ones that already sat around the table. "I guess this concludes the briefing. I will show you to your senkai gate, for this mission, you will use the Kuchiki-familys personal gate. In the future we will set up one for your squad." Byakuya got up, and began to walk out of the room, not waiting to see if the group would follow. "I guess you'll have to get the briefing from your new squadmates, good luck" Captain Shunsui told Michio. |

"..you've got Akuma, he'll be our squad leader when we get to the real world, the drunkard over there is Zink and the little girl is Miu." Shiru grabs hold of the picture on the table then starts to go after Byakuya. "As Captain Shunsui said, we'll give you the briefing on the way so follow me." |

Byakuya leads the group to the Kuchiki family home, and to the families senkai gate, as he activates it, he tells the group to seek his little sister out, she will give them a good spot for the mission, she is the towns shinigami, Kuchiki Rukia is her name. As the squadmembers pass through the gate they find themselves by the river in karakura town. |

Zink walks up behind them very quiet for a change. "i think you are right, Akuma" He says and trys to feel Rukias spirit force but the mix of his powerful spirit force and the alcohol made him not sure if it was his own or someone elses spirit force he could feel. |

He then sets his eyes on a tall lamp-post, makes a shunpo step and lands on top of it. "By the looks of it from here, Karakura Town appears to be quite big." |

Zink nods "You are right. We should be careful" He says and his reiatsu dissapears. Zink looks at everyone jumping around. "all this excercise has made me thirsty" He says and sits down beside the lamp-post Shiru is on, and takes a mouthful from one of Zinks bottles. |

Michio couldn't really sense anything that resembled a shinigamis reiatsu. Some humans in this town had higher than average power, but that was nothing of his concern. Anyhow, it would be hard to sense Rukia if Zink wouldn't stop flooding the area with his reiatsu. At that time, Zink had started drinking again, this on top of what he had just half an hour ago made no good combo. For starters, he lost control of his reiatsu, second, he began loosing balance and eyesight... |

"Finally, he's asleep. He's always been bad at controlling his reiatsu when he's been drinking alot..." Shiru says to himself when he notices that Zink has fallen asleep. "The bad part is if hollows would happen to start appearing in this area now..." his eyes wander across some of the nearby buildings. "Hey fellas, have you sensed anything out of the ordinary yet?" he shouts to the others. "Too quiet, it's feels just like that drill we had a few weeks ago..." Shiru thought, he scratched the back of his head and turned around so that he was looking at Akuma. "Well?" |

"Not really, and this approach doesn't really seem to be working all that well." Akuma says and scratches his head a bit. "Alright, we'll start movin', we'll start by going to anything we can pick up, meaning above average humans for now." he shunpos down to Zink and flunks him over the shoulder. "New guy, you and Shiru take point towards the nearest human anomaly, Miu in the middle, and I'll cover the back with Mr. Sleepy-head here." "All clear?" |

Before anyone could answer, Akuma carries Zink down to the river and throws him in. Just a second later, the drunk shinigami emerges from the water with a confused look. "We're moving out, Zink, get ready!" |

Shiru nods and then looks at Michio. "Let's go." he says and then sets off towards the nearest rooftop with Michio a few feet behind him. "Where's the nearest one that's got a higher power than normally, Michio?" |

"My name is Katsuo Michio, not "New guy"...please remember it" Michio said and walked after Shiru. "If you want to know, then maybe you should slow down a bit and allow me to feel after" Michio answered Shiru, then the Shinigami closed his eyes once again. After a short moment Michio opened his eyes and pointed with his hand straight ahead. "A few blocks in that direction, a real high reiatsu...much more than an average human." |

"is it raining?" He said standing there in the water putting out his hand as if checking for rain. Then he realizes where he is and walks out of the water and shakes himself awake. "now then?" He says Zink follows behind the group keeping watch and for the time being he is able to keep himself from wanting to drink. |

"You're right, this humans' reiatsu is something out of the ordinary." Shiru says when he stops on top of a light post. He looks down at a young human girl. "That's an incredible reiatsu, I'm amazed that she hasn't been attacked by any holl..." he looks up when he feels a second reiatsu closing in on their location. "Maybe I spoke too soon..." |

Shiru barely finishes his sentence before the well-known howl of a hollow cuts him off. As the team turns around, they can see a lesser hollow emerge from the sky and drop down to a place near the human, who continues her walk unknowingly. |

"I guess so..." Shiru says. He looks at the girl that's walking on not knowing what's about to happen. He jumps down from the light post and starts walking towards the hollow with his zanpakutou drawn from its sheath. "You will not harm any more souls foul hollow." Shiru says with a saddened voice. |

The hollow answers like all of its kind, with a loud yell, again the girl does not take notice, but walks towards the monster. |

Shiru speeds up so that he's now running towards the hollow. When he's a few feet away he jumps towards the hollow and slashes it in the chest. When his feet touches the ground again he quickly turns around again and looks at the girl that's still walking on. "Humans are so lucky, not knowing what's going on around them..." he mumbles for himself. |

Again, the hollows shrieks, but its reiatsu doesn't disappear, it doubles. As Shiru turns around, the hollow has cloned itself, new parts growing out of the wound caused by his sword. |

Shiru looks at the hollow and then at Michio while looking like a question mark. "Has that ever happened to you?!..." he says and points at the hollows. "Oh well, more playmates for me I guess." he adds before he sets off towards the hollows. This time when he's a few feet away he jumps towards the left hollow and slices its' head and the very second his feet touches the ground again he jumps towards the second hollow and repeats the procedure with slashing its' head into two pieces. |

The two hollows shriek as they begin to disappear. But the fight is not over, for just as the are gone, another, identical, is sighted on a nearby house roof. |

"This is starting to really bored me out." Michio said and sighed, he then turned toward the roof there the newly arrived hollow stood. Michio raised his arm and pointed with his index finger at the hollow "Hadou #4: Byakurai". "We shouldn't stand around too much, we'll probably attract some unwanted attention that way." Shiru says and looks around. "There's another strong reiatsu that way." he points in the direction that he's facing and then sets off. |

Shiru jumps up to the top of a high building, stopping just to see the rest of the group dumb-struck. All, but Akuma, who is right behind him. "Perhaps we should look for this Rukia again now, if she is this towns shinigami she should be close by, considering the attack" |

"Yeah... I guess you're right Akuma..." Shiru scratches the back of his head and give's up a faint smile. He then looks around at all the buildings where all lights are turned off. "I still think that humans are lucky, not knowing about the things that happens around them, not being able to see all of this." he then adds with a sad yet satisfied look on his face. |

"Right... hold on." Shiru replies before closing his eyes and concentrating. "So many strong souls, I've never heard of a town that has so many humans with such strong reiatsus before... some of them are so strong that they're almost blocking out others... Oh wait, there's one that's coming right at us, could be Rukia-san." he says and turns his head to face the direction where the reiatsu were coming from. |

"It's being blocked by some of the strong reiatsus but it feels like a shinigami-reiatsu." Shiru answers and waits a few seconds. "Yeah, it's a shinigami so it must be her, I can feel it clearly now." he adds and smiles. |

"Right, follow me." Shiru sets off in the new direction. After just a few seconds of traveling he comes to a complete stop and looks to his left. "You must be Kuchiki Rukia, it's an honour to meet Kuchiki-sans little sister." he then says before making a bow. |

"Genma Shiru, at your service." he answers and then motions with his hand towards the rest of the group. "The gentleman over here is this teams leader even though it seems I'm the one doing all the ´leading`..." he gives Akuma a sarcastic glimpse, "...Sakazaki Akuma, the gent' with the ponytail is Katsuo Michio, the little girl over there is Atsuko Miu and the guy with the bottle in his hand is Zink." "Also... We're not what you would call reinforcements, we're here on a special mission for Mayuri-san and we were told to seek you out when we got here since you would have the knowledge about where to find a place away from civilization." he pulls out the photo alongside the tracking device. "This little beauty is what we're after." he holds up the photo in front of himself. |

Akuma nods to Rukia as Shiru introduces him, but gives him a short, but humorous, glare when he jokes. He doesn't say anything,but looks back at the rest before jumping after Rukia and Shiru. |

Shiru and Akuma follows Rukia to the outskirts of town, when she stops, the three stand before a large field. "The humans prepared this site for a new shoppingcenter, but the construction never got started, It's been like this for months." she says "It think it should suit your needs" |
